VenaCure EVLT™ for Varicose Veins
Varicose veins can be uncomfortable and cause you to feel self-conscious, depending on their appearance and location on your body. In the past, varicose veins were removed using invasive surgical procedures that required weeks of downtime and discomfort. These options for varicose vein removal were known as vein stripping, referred to as vein ligation (or phlebectomy), where the physician surgically extract the varicose vein. However, for most patients, these vein ligation procedures were never a guarantee that these varicose veins would be removed permanently. As a matter of fact, many varicose veins returned after some time.

What is EVLT and how is it different using VenaCure?
EVLT™ is a quick and minimally invasive laser procedure that leaves no scar, has no recovery time, and is a relatively pain-free treatment, performed under local anesthesia in Dr. Greenberg’s treatment room. The treatment itself can take anywhere from 15 to 45 minutes, depending on the depth of treatment. Consultation for EVLT with VenaCure EVLT™ initially involves both a physical and an ultrasound-assisted examination to map the vein to be treated. Dr. Greenberg was chosen by Angiodynamics to train physicians nationwide in this specific EVLT procedure.
The VenaCure EVLT™ system utilizes 1470 and 810nm wavelengths to endovenously (within the vein) deliver laser treatments through a gold and glass tipped fiber that Dr. Greenberg will insert through a single entry point into the saphenous vein. This saphenous vein is located toward the interior of the thigh and can be accessed just above or below your knee, depending on where Dr. Greenberg finds the best point of entry. Equipped with the gold and glass-welded tip, the VenaCure EVLT™ system protects any other tissues surrounding the treatment area within the vein, which is a step above other laser treatments that are not designed to focus at this level of detail. VenaCure EVLT™ uses ultrasound-assisted guidance as the laser fiber is inserted into the vein and can be accurately followed throughout the procedure.
